We were only there one night, passing through, but everyone was very nice and our site was shady and roomy. Most sites looked to have a few trees and weren't too terribly close together. Very nice store, nice showerhouses.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Excellent for families with children. So much for them to do right there. Bathrooms are ALWAYS spotless!! The employees are super friendly and always willing to help any way they can. October is a fun month to go. Trick or treating every Saturday and a haunted hey ride.
Absolutely love this KOA campground. The staff is superior to any other campground we've stayed at in more than 10 years. They are constantly upgrading and improving the campground and each year there is something new and exciting! They even have unique sites available including two teepees and a brand new wagon with a king size bed! This year they even expanded their activities and added a bunch of new ones (the pudding slip and slide is one of my kids ' favorites). Perfect place to camp in the Poconos!
The group I was with had planned 3 campsites for this location for a birthday weekend. When we called to book, we requested a campsite as far from everyone as possible since we were going to be a large group (13-15 people) arriving late (between 10pm-1am friday night). We originally asked for the outer loop, but were told that section was closed for the season but that the campsites near the cabin were far away enough and from the map we did look isolated. When we got there, we realized we were pretty much on top of the cabins. A worker named Joey came over (reeking of marijuana) a couple times to warn us that the people in the cabin had called to complain but even remarked that when he got there we did not sound like we were making all that much noise. Either way, we listened to his requests and quieted down when he asked. We settled in around 1:30 after the last people had arrived like we had warned them. By not even 9 the next morning we were told we would have to leave because of the complaints we had. Keep in mind we had been forced to spend close to $500 for the whole weekend for 3 campsites (we were told only 5 to a site), when we didn’t even use 2. When we asked for an explanation from Joey, he was extremely rude and accused us of being up until 3:30 in the morning when we had proof that the last person was in bed by long before that. Each time we pointed out his lies, the story would change. The property boasts to be pet friendly but he complained about the dogs being off the leashes when our dogs were the quietest on the property and tied to posts and tables in our area. I do not blame the people in the cabins for complaining since we could pretty much see through their windows given how close we were. We had warned the property the size of our group and that we should be removed from everyone to avoid this and there were plenty of other sites around they could have placed us. When we asked for a refund for the day we had lost, we were told we would have to calll the NY office for that. Safe to say we won’t be coming back here and if you want to actually enjoy your camping experience without feeling like you have to whisper to avoid being kicked out, I would suggest you stay away as well. I had a much better time a couple weekends prior at Peaceful Woodlands only 30 minutes away which much has more privacy and better customer service, which is where I will be spending my money from now on.
We arrived Friday about 7pm. A holiday weekend we expected it to be busy but traffic was so backed up with people waiting to get in, it was not a good start. It took forever. However, the staff was friendly and once we were in we thought it would get better. Our spot was #92 on the end of the first row, it was so tight and small we barely fit. We settled in and decided to relax enjoyed the scenery. People in general were friendly, we walked the dogs and made a campfire. They are very strict about you wearing wristbands to show that you "paid" and belong in the campground...but the other rules don't seem to matter. The people in the cabin behind us set off fireworks, which scared my dogs to death, and there was NO such thing as quiet time. Good luck trying to sleep! There were so many people there it and few bath houses. One was almost always closed. The bathroom that was opened was completely gross. The scenery around the area is beautiful and the state park is great, but beware of this campground. An embarrassment for KOA
